Get Jessed Up's Holiday Gift Guide!

Hip, hip hooray!

Somehow, it's already December, and you know what that means: the holidays are upon us! If you're anything like me, you stress to the max about what to get people for the holidays. You want the gift to be thoughtful, represent an inside joke you have with someone, something meaningful, something witty, something perfect.

Fear no more, my gift-giving gals! I've compiled a list of some of my favorite things that would be a perfect gift for any loved one in your life. My gift ideas range in price, so if you're able to splurge or if you're a beauty on a budget, I've got gifts for all of you.

...And one last thing before you see my suggestions. Sometimes gifting things to yourself is just as fun as gifting to others. Just saying.

1.

Just think of all the possible concoctions you could put into a watermelon (or
a pumpkin, if you're feeling the holiday spirit)! A great gift for the friend who
is impossible to shop for.

2.

If you have a man in your life who has it all, this is the perfect gift!
Your man will receive a sealed crate and his own crowbar for opening it. I
AM MAN! HEAR ME ROAR AND WATCH ME OPEN A CRATE!
On the inside: bacon everything. Bacon sunflower seeds, bacon popcorn, bacon
jerky, bacon salt... are you seeing how perfect this gift is, yet?

3.

Pillowcase Sets, O Susannah, $39.00

I'm a pillow girl. My couches are covered in pillows, and my bed
is no different. These cute couples' pillows add a little something extra
to your bedroom decor. I love how these cheeky pillowcases show
off your sense of humor!

4.

Customizable, individual, & snazzy as shit. You'll win best gift-giver of
the year with these retro-inspired rides! Whether you're running out to grab a coffee,
running errands, or just want to ride around and explore your 'hood,
these step-through cycles will help you explore your city in style.

**Stay tuned for more of my love of Pure City Cycles!**

5.

Because making s'mores in the microwave was so last year.

6.

Man jewelry can be tricky. I'm not a huge fan of men blinging
out more than I do... so these are a great, masculine alternative. They're
minimal, colorful, and give off an outdoorsy vibe that I definitely dig. For
the lumbersexual man in your life: wa-la! Gift search complete!

7.

You guys. What needs to be said? DEEP. FRIED. EVERYTHING.
Pickles. Oreos. Fries. Chicken. Brownies. ANYTHING.
Gift this = you're always invited to the party.

8.

The perfect gift for anyone at any age. Everyone listens to music,
so why not give someone the gift of listening in style!
Let me sum this up:
gold earbuds > any other earbuds.

So, what do you think of those gift ideas? Do tell if you have other perfect present suggestions!

Remember... keep an eye out for my next blog post. It's a Get Jessed Up Giveaway you won't want to miss!

The Bold and the Beautiful: Brows

I'm a firm believer that eyebrows matter.

Sometimes I see people who have over-waxed or gotten a little too happy with the tweezers... and honestly, they run the risk of crossing the fine line over into trashy-town. Thankfully, it looks like the trend is moving away from barely there brows.. and I think it's for the better.

Gwen Stefani

See what I'm saying?

The good news is that full brows are "in" for fall. They're sultry. They tell a story. They draw people in and bring attention straight to your eyes. Think of Brooke Shields a la her Calvin Klein days. Sex. Pot.

Brooke Shields

We're seeing this bigger, bolder brow on our favorite celebs as well:

Diane Kruger

Camilla Belle

Chloe Moretz

Keira Knightley

Sofia Vergara

This goes for men as well:

Mr. Beckham, himself

R. Patz

I've always been on the bolder brow bandwagon. I have a thick head of hair, so for me, I didn't really have a choice but to the go with the fuller brow flow:

How do you do your brows? Do you like to keep them a little fuller in the fall?

(p.s. This article in Elle gives some fabulous tips on shaping your brows to achieve the perfect arch!)

A White Winter

Just because it's winter, doesn't mean you have to completely rule white out of your wardrobe. As you know, I'm a fan of pushing the everyday boundaries of fashion--- so integrating white into my wardrobe (even past the Labor Day deadline) is one of the rules I'm all for breaking.

Here's one example of how I worked white into my winter wardrobe last year.

Need some more inspiration? Here are some of my favorite winter white looks:

Do you wear white after Labor Day? I'd love to see how, and share your suggestions with my readers! Send outfit pics to GetJessedUp(at)gmail(dot)com

Saturday Scarves

Happy weekend!

Today's post is short and sweet: it's about a fun way to work scarves into your wardrobe. You've probably seen belted scarves on the runway or on your favorite celebrities/bloggers. Some examples....

Have you tried it out on your own?

I actually had a lot of fun with this look. My version is slightly less glamorous than the runway examples above. It's more closely aligned to the fashion blogger's pic second down from the top.

I wore straight leg navy corduroys from Madewell, and then a couple layers on top. I started off with a grey cross-back tank, followed by one of my favorite cashmere cardigans. I love it for its bright hue, but more importantly because it's the softest thing I own! I added on a multi-colored striped scarf and chose a yellow belt for a pop of color & to add some spunk :)

What do you think? Like? Dislike?

Tip: Even though it's the winter, you can always utilize your summer tops! There's no reason for them to sit in our closet and collect dust for half the year. Layer a cardigan, heavier top, scarf, or something else over a summer tank to make it seasonally appropriate. Today's outfit is a good example.

So tell me: would you try the belted scarf?

Bundled Up Bohemian

It's cold as hell out there, so it's important to stay bundled up! To keep cozy, I go the layering route. It's practical-- you can peel off layers if you get warm, and add them on if you're cold. Makes sense, right?!

It's also fashionable, in my opinion. Today's outfit is an example of how to layer different fabrics, patterns, and materials to create a cohesive look.

I like that my purple tank and striped cardigan are longer lengths than my vest. I think the asymmetry of the lengths is visually appealing. I added on my fun new ear-warmer headband, and moccasins to complete the somewhat hippie/casual-chic look. The turquoise ring, long necklace, and stacked bracelet pull it all together and bring out the coral from the headband.

Because I know you wanted a close up of my face (not).... but you can better
see the detail on the headband.

Celebs I've spotted in similar knit head & hair-wear include:

Taylor Swift

Whitney Port

Shailene Woodley

How do you stay warm in the winter? Do you like to layer? Would you wear a knot headband to keep your ears out of the cold?

Let me know what you think of this outfit and how you're keeping cozy this holiday season!
