Spring is in the air!

"She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbor:
'Winter is Dead.'"
-A.A. Milne, When We Were Very Young

No outfit post is complete without a selfie :)

This shirt/sweater duo is gearing up to be one of my favorite outfits for Spring. The floral print paired with the bright cardi is as easy-breezy as it gets. Colorful, feminine, and effortless.

Living in lace

Lace, in my opinion, is the most feminine fabric. It's ethereal, soft, and delicate. Lace is beautiful and graceful, and when I wear it, I feel pretty. So there's that.

This summer, I am going to live in lace. I've already added a couple new pretty pieces to my wardrobe (shocker), and cannot wait until it's warmer weather so I can wear them.

Some of the lacey little things I am loving right now:

Leanne Top, Abercrombie, $68

Cropped Lace Button Down Top, American Eagle, $39.95

Lace Crossback Tank, American Eagle, $39.95

Illusion Yoke Lace Dress, a. drea at Nordstrom,  $88

Outskirts Lace Cami, Free People, $48

Lady Bird Lace Tank, Free People, $78

Are you loving lace as much as I am?

New Baubles and a Braid

As you guys know, I love statement necklaces. LOVE. They can elevate a simple tee shirt, and add sparkle, shine, and color to any outfit. Here are some baubles I'm currently loving:

J. Crew

Anthropologie

Francesca's

J. Crew

Feeling inspired by spring - and by all of the aforementioned necklaces - I picked up a glass and grey leaf necklace for myself (and I am absolutely obsessed with it)!

Top: J. Crew, Necklace: J. Crew, Belt: LOFT, Denim: LOFT, Shoes: Steve Madden (Similar)

While we're at it on the outfit pics, here's what I wore the other day. Neutrals on neutrals on neutrals = my upcoming summer wardrobe. I love putting peaches with pinks, and whites with beiges.

Jacket: LOFT, Top: Free People (Similar), Bracelets: LOFT

On a totally different note... I am trying to learn how to braid. I don't mean your average braid - I know how to do that. But I want to learn how to french braid, inside out french braid, and fishtail braid.

I have a lot ton of hair (duh), and blowing it dry/straightening it everyday just doesn't work in my schedule. Takes too long, my arms get tired, I have no patience, and so on.

I feel like knowing how to do more kinds of braids would really benefit me. Instead of throwing my hair up into a clip like I do every. single. day. (see both selfie outfit photos above/every other photo ever) these new braiding techniques would give me other ways to throw my hair back quickly and effortlessly but in a more polished way.

Though I've tried many times, I still cannot french braid quite yet. However, here is my best first attempt at the fishtail braid. IMHO, it's a damn good first try! (Thanks, Danielle, for showing me how to do this!)

Can you do any fun braiding styles? Please share your secrets and teach me your talents!

Red Carpet Review: Golden Globes 2013

Award season is in full swing, ladies and gents! Last night, the Golden Globes red carpet did not disappoint. There were hits, misses, and other questionable choices I can't even begin to categorize.

For today's post, I've pulled and reviewed some of my favorites and least favorites. Do you agree with these choices?

Let's start off on a positive note. Jessica Alba looks stunning in this coral fitted gown. Her red lip
and old Hollywood glam hair are perfect. I could do without the furry clutch, though.

J.Lo... just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

The slit on Lea Michelle's dress is pretty high up there! And she seems a bit too tan for the middle
of January, don't you think?

George looks dapper, per usual. Stacy Keibler looks like an armadillo. I've seen better.

Emily Blunt can do no wrong in my eyes. This dress fits her perfectly, and the side
cut outs are on trend, but not overdone.

It's nice to see young actresses dressing their age on the red carpet.

This dress emphasizes how small Giuliana's body is in comparison to her head.
She looks like a bobble head... and I'm not sold on the lacey collar.

Hayden looks absolutely gorgeous in this mermaid style gown.

Halle Berry, what happened?

I love that Jessica Chastain chose this pastel color dress. It's gorgeous against her pale skin
and red hair. However, something about the fit of the dress is sloppy.

There's a lot going on here. Too much, maybe. Sparkles, feathers, fluff, mesh, updo...

Pretty color, but Julie Bowen is being swallowed up by this gown. Way too big!

Lucy Liu is wearing my parent's old dining room wall paper.

Lena D. looks drab. I hate to say it because she's so sweet... but between the brown color
and the prom-like style, it's just boring.

I can't put my finger on the one thing that doesn't work here. Kerry looks gorgeous, but something's off.
Maybe her hair should be up off of her face? Maybe the mesh on the bottom should be shorter?

This dress makes Nene Leakes look bigger/wider than she needs to look.

T. Swift needs to take a steamer to this dress immediately. Otherwise, it's nice to see her
step out of the champagne-colored feminine dresses, and go with something more bold.

Sienna Miller's two piece ensemble scares me. Also, I applaud her for the natural
make up... but there needs to be a pop of color somewhere. A red lip would look
gorgeous on her!

Her expression says it all. Not good.

Now THIS is what the Golden Globes are all about. Amy Adams is sheer pefection in this blush
mermaid style gown. Her hair is perfect. Her make up is perfect. Work. It. Girl.

Falling for flats

September is *just* around the corner, and with it's arrival comes cooler weather and need to update your close-toed shoes collection. Ok maybe it's not a need, necessarily, but pumping up your collection with one stylish shoe is always acceptable. Here are some flats I'm falling for this season:

Walk on the Wild Side

These leopard studded loafers are straight sex. I love their tough girl vibe and dangerously mysterious edge. That's a lot of personality for a shoe!

Steve Madden "Study-L Leopard Loafer" $99.95

Live the Luxe Lifestyle

These flats from Tory Burch are the definition of elegance. Suede. Navy. Simple. For the women who appreciate the finer things in life...and on their feet.

Tory Burch Suede Reva Ballet Flat, Navy/Bronze, $235

These loafers remind me of something Scott Disick would wear, which explains why I love them. They almost remind me of rich person slippers with the big crest on the toe. I need a pair of these puppies.

Nine West "Panto" $69

Fabulously Feminine Feet

Having the go-to girly ballet flat is essential for every fall. This pair of bone-colored flats from Aldo is the perfect pair. The bow and kitten heel give it a cute, feminine finish.

Aldo "Danille" $50

So tell me.. what's your favorite fall flat?
